What’s all about ?

There is a sign …

UnSigne was born at the crossroads of several influences that guide my life as a man of Communication and Culture surrounded by overexposed images.

I don’t really know why, but my eyes are constantly drawn by the signs placed by man to identify himself as an individual, group or under the banner of a brand. And rather than trying to remove me, I try to focus myself on the aesthetics of colours, shapes, positions on an object or a garment, to draw a map of influences or belonging. Instead of passively suffocate in these messages; I keep my eye on those that seem new or even more unique. I obey their quality, the way they are produce with which technology.

Sometimes I become a player … Category “passion for art but can not really afford it », I sometimes ask graphic designers or artists to customize something for me in “cocktail collaborations” which mixed my personal tastes and their artistic universe.
In fact, I just think I like customization.

I’am shared as to the interpretation of the origin of this interest in these distinctive signs; between the « recalcitrant » non-conformist vision described by the Robert Williams1 :

I would guess in a world of billions of people conformity is a necessity to run a smooth functioning culture. Everything is directed at sameness. Uniformity is security. But sometimes polyps develop in the colon of mankind.
…With all due to respect, I myself can’t avoid nonconformity. It’s not affection with me, it’s my psychosis. I’am born “recalcitrant”, and unfortunately an unrepentant miscreant…But Evolution grants its favors only through the benefits of mistakes.

and the willingness to transform our mass consumption in « social capital », as described by the sociologist Pierre Bourdieu in his treatise « The Forms of Capital » :

……The transformation of economic capital into social capital… with the expenditure of time, attention, care, concern to personalize a gift, has the effect of transfiguring the purely monetary import of the exchange, and the very meaning of the exchange. From a purely economic viewpoint this effort is seen as wastage but in the terms of the logic of social exchange it is a solid investment, the profits of which will appear in the long run, either monetary or other… ,

it seemed interesting to create a place to share passions for these artefacts that distinguish us from each other on the basis of manufactured and standards products.

Sign of all creativity, customization is the place for all collaborations,

between Brands, manufacturers of machinery and tools for customization, subcontractors and designers, illustrators, graphic designers and typographers, which can respond directly or indirectly through their creations or productions to the desires and tastes of everyone.

UnSign position

A crossroads of know-how:

  • Where the brand stands out with the designers,
  • Which exceeds the engineer to design tools that meet the quality requirement of a craftsman who produced individually or in small series,
  • Where the client dialogue with the creative which exchange with the manufacturers.

and an opportunity to create is own activity…

as I also believe that in a way UnSigne would like to pass the message that facing the serious uproar of our economy, to develop creativity and entrepreneurship qualities have become crucial and essential for all activities.

How ?

UnSigne is a blog that aims to propose a non-exhaustive overview of the customization feed over the evolution of technological tools or configuration web software, business models for mass customization, design trends and events that punctuate this activity. A bridge of synthetic content to other websites. A look that will feed forward to your expertise, your news, or your styles watched threw the web.
And who knows will give rise to Collector or product limited serie project, produced and coordinated by UnSigne™.

Who?

Head of Marketing (Product Manager / Market Manager) in personalization solution industry, then corporate communication manager with an expertise in web marketing, I am convinced that Web 2.0 and structure of social media are deeply changing the modes of communication between brands and their users.
With this experiences in industry, cumulated with my sincere interest in graphic arts, it seems to me that this theme is the perfect subject to explore configurator web services and implement these 2.0 practices and tools while hoping to unite a community of exchange and sharing about Customization.
