Here is the key points he puts forward to get the foundation of a sneaker customization:

Clean the shoes perfectly with Acetone and a cotton (even if they are new) in order to remove the top layer which protect the leather ( also watch this tutorial ),

Choose a quality leather paint and not basic acrylic,

Start by applying the background color(s) on the different panels of the shoes,

Use a range of brushes depending on the size of the design (he uses 3.8 size angle + a size 4 + 0.03 round) ,

Draw the design and contours.
